Prosecutor Vladimir Simovic requested the extension of prohibiting measures following the confirmation of the indictment on November 7.
“The Prosecution alleges that there is a real danger that he might flee. Bijeljina is in the vicinity of the Serbian border and there is a real danger that he might flee to Serbia and avoid the criminal proceedings against him,” Simovic said.
He proposed that the Court extended the previously ordered prohibiting measures against Savic, including a ban on travelling and using his personal identification card for crossing the state border and an obligation to report to the Public Safety Center in Bijeljina twice a week.
The Prosecution of BiH charges Savic, former member of the Republika Srpska Army, VRS, with having raped a Bosniak female in June 1993.
According to the charges, Savic came to collect this person and took her away, threatening her. After that he allegedly raped and sexually abused her.
It further alleges that the victim could not resist due to the fear for her life and her child’s life.
Defence attorney Nada Mandic said that the indictee fully respected the prohibiting measures, which was his obligation after all.
“The Defence and the indictee do not object against the prohibiting measures specified by the Prosecutor,” Mandic said.
The State Investigation and Protection Agency, SIPA, arrested Savic in late September. He was released to liberty after having been examined by the Prosecution of BiH.
