“On the contrary, they provoked us, telling us that all of us would be war criminals,” said Hamdija Alic, a former guard in “Musala” school building.

Responding to a question whether Macic treated the detained persons in an inappropriate manner, the witness answered negatively. Alic said that he did not remember whether the indictee was in his shift.

The Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina, BiH, charges Ibro Macic with having participated in the torture and sexual abuse of detainees in “Musala” school building in Konjic from April to October 1993.

The witness said that, neither during the war, nor after the war had he heard about any abuse of prisoners in Musala.

Alic mentioned that he came to Musala in May 1993 and that he worked as a guard until the exchange of captured members of the Croatian Defence Council, HVO.

“Croats were held separately from Serbs. There was a sports hall, where Croats were held, while Serbs were in the audience area and in locker rooms. They did not have any contacts with each others. Croats had everything. They had plenty of food. Their relatives used to bring them food. They would even throw food into garbage,” Alic said.

The trial is due to continue on November 7, when the indictee is supposed to testify in his defence.
