Bosnia’s State Investigation and Protection Agency found an anti-aircraft gun and a large quantity of arms and ammunition at Trifunovic’s house when he was detained in the village of Skelani in the country’s Serb-led Republika Srpska entity on Wednesday, prosecutors said.

Former Serb fighter Trifunovic had been sentenced to 33 years in prison for participating in the mass executions of around 1,000 Bosniaks from Srebrenica in Kravica in July 1995.

But he was released from prison on November 18 last year, after the Bosnian constitutional court ruled that the wrong criminal code was used in his trial.

When he was detained on Wednesday, he was awaiting a new verdict which is due to be handed down by the state court.

Trifunovic was released along with Slobodan Jakovljevic, Aleksandar Radovanovic, Branislav Medan, Brano Dzinic, who were also convicted of genocide.

The state prosecution has ordered a further search at several locations in the Skelani area.
