Nikola Maric is charged with having committed persecution of people, within a widespread and systematic attack targeted against the Bosniak civilian population, by participating in murders, torture and other inhumane acts in the period from November 1992 to October 1993.

The indictment further charges Maric with having ordered an HVO member to kill a sick old man and that he, acting in collaboration with several unidentified members of HVO, personally took six Bosniak civilians from the Secondary School Centre in Prozor in the late summer of 1993. The civilians have been missing without trace since. Their bodies have never been found.

Maric has been held in custody since his arrest in September last year.

The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina confirmed the indictment on February 18.
