Presenting its closing statement, the Prosecution called on the Court to pronounce the indictee guilty and sentence him in accordance with the law, while the Defence called for a verdict of release.
According to the charges, Vojin Lukic, former guard in the District Prison in Doboj, beat Saban Ibrakovic with his legs and hands, causing him to lose consciousness, in the Prison corridor on two occasions in 1992.
“The injured party said that the indictee took him out twice and that he physically and mentally mistreated him. Prosecution witnesses confirmed that Saban Ibrakovic received severe bodily injuries and that indictee Lukic beat him,” District Prosecutor Izudin Berberovic said.
Defence attorney Goran Neskovic said that the Defence denied the allegation that the injured party was a civilian, because he was an active policeman.
“We are not denying that the injured party was abused twice. He was beaten up by Dusan Vukovic when admitted to the prison. On that occasion he got severe bodily injuries. Also, it is true that the indictee took him out of the room, where he was detained, but Vojo Markovic slapped him on that occasion,” Neskovic said.
The trial of Lukic began in April this year.
