Milovan Simic, who testified in defence of Pantelic, said that he drove one of the vehicles in a convoy, consisting of seven buses and one truck, which transported the Bosniak population from Visegrad to Sokolac.
Simic said that Pantelic, Perica Markovic, and a Slavko, Zeljko and Jovica were the convoy escorts.
“Pantelic was in Burdus’ vehicle, while the four other men drove in a car,” Simic said.
The witness said that, after having passed through Sokolac and arrived in Knezina, unknown soldiers separated men, while women and children continued their trip.
Simic said that, after having spent the night in Sokolac, on the following day they stopped next to the malt house in Rogatica, where he saw the bus and the men inside it.
“M-7 drove those people. I heard rumours that they were going to be exchanged. We left Rogatica. We stopped at Sjemec. Some soldiers were there, including Pantelic and the four other men,” the witness said.
He said that he did not know what happened to the men and “whether they were exchanged, killed or released”.
Pantelic and Predrag Milisavljevic are charged with having participated in the execution of 48 Bosniak men near the Paklenit pit, Sokolac municipality, on June 15, 1992. Besides that, they are on trial along with Ljubomir Tasic for having participated in forced resettlement of Bosniaks from Visegrad on June 14, 1992.
Milisavljevic and Pantelic are charged in their capacity as members of reserve police forces, while Tasic was member of the Republika Srpska Army.
Novo Rajak, who testified in defence of Pantelic, said that his neighbour Uzeir Cakar told him that he was captured and detained by the Uzice Corps.
“I asked him if he was hungry and if anybody had beaten him. He answered negatively. I asked the Commander to help him if he could. He was released the following day,” said Rajak, who was sentenced for war crimes in 2006.
In June this year Uzeir Cakar testified for the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina, saying that indictee Pantelic hit him several times, while he was detained in a container.
The trial is due to continue on December 3.
