„The indictment against Rasema Handanovic related to crimes in Trusina near Konjic and has been raised a while ago. That case has already been finished after she plead guilty. This is the only indictment against this person“, said Boris Grubesic, spokesperson of the Bosnian prosecution.
Attorney Adil Draganovic, whom Handanovic selected as her ex-officio attorney, said that he would meet her on Thursday, November 14, but could not reveal the reason for the meeting.
BIRN learned from sources close to the Bosnian judiciary that Handanovic would be indicted soon.
After she had admitted guilt, in April 2012 the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina sentenced Handanovic, former member of “Zulfikar” Unit of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, ABiH, to five-and-a-half years in prison for having participated in the shooting of six Croats in Trusina on April 16, 1993.
During 2012 Handanovic testified at two separate trials for crimes in Trusina. She first testified at the trial of Mensur Memic, Dzevad Salcin, Nedzad Hodzic, Nihad Bojadzic and Zulfikar Alispago, former members of “Zulfikar” Unit, and Senad Hakalovic, former member of the 45th Brigade of ABiH.
A few months later she testified at the trial of Edin Dzeko, another former member of “Zulfikar” Unit, who is charged with crimes in Trusina and Jablanica.
In late 2011 she was extradited from the United States of America to Bosnia and Herzegovina due to a suspicion by the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina that she committed crimes in Trusina.
