Protected witness U said that he arrived to the village of Parsovici on April 16, 1993 and launched an attack on Trusina together with 20 other fighters, among which was defendant Edin Dzeko.

The witness said that during the attack he saw a dead man. “I saw him under a table, he was already dead”, he said.

Most of the hearing was closed to the public, because the protected witness gave answers which could jeopardise his identity.

Edin Dzeko, a former member of the “Zulfikar” detachment with the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is charged with taking part in the execution of several soldiers of the Croatian Defence Council and Croatian civilians following the attack on the village of Trusina and with killing three elderly civilians during the attack. He is also on trial for war crimes committed in Jablanica.

Answering questions from Dzeko’s lawyer Edina Residovic, the witness said the commander of the group he was in was Samir Semsovic.

He said Semsovic was the only commander of the “Zulfikar” unit.

After the witness agreed with the lawyer that he descended into Trusina down a hill, the public was excluded.

Protected witness U testified via videolink. His image was hidden from the public during his testimony.

The trial will continue on February 26.
