Witness Goran Golub said that he was taken from his house in Osenik village to the 9.maj school building in Pazaric. Upon his arrival, he met his father and other Serbs.

“More than 100 Serbs were held in it. My relatives were there. My uncle Drago Golub’s back was covered with bruises, because he was beaten up. (…) We were taken away only because we were Serbs,” the witness said.

When asked by Prosecutor Behaija Krnjic who was responsible for that building, the witness said that he concluded that it was Mirsad Sabic, but he might be wrong.

The Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina charges Sabic, along with Mustafa Djelilovic, Fadil Covic, Nezir Kazic, Becir Hujic, Halid Covic, Serif Mesanovic and Nermin Kalember, with crimes committed in the Silos detention camp, Krupa military barracks and 9. maj school building.

According to the charges, Mirsad Sabic was Commander of the Police Station in Pazaric, Becir Hujic was Manager and Deputy Manager of the Silos detention camp, just like Halid Covic. Serif Mesanovic was one of the Deputy Managers of Silos and Manager of a detention camp in the Krupa military barracks warehouse, while Kalember was a guard in Silos. The other indictees were members of the civil, military and police authorities.

Golub said that he was taken from the school building to the Krupa military barracks, whose Manager was Serif Mesanovic. As he said, members of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, ABiH guarded detainees in that building.

He stayed in Krupa until December 31, 1992, before being transferred to Silos.

“We were guarded by guards. They treated me in a correct manner. They neither beat nor mistreated me. While I was there, nobody was taken out of my cell or beaten up,” the witness said.

He said that Serif Mesanovic once beat Ranko Golub and that he “rode” a man named Bozovic “as a horse” once. Following those incidents, he never saw Mesanovic in Silos again.

The witness said that he was taken to other locations to perform labour during his detention, adding that he was once taken to Mount Igman, where an unpleasant thing happened to him, but he did not want to testify about it. He said that he reported the incident to Halid Covic and that he never performed labour at that location after that.
He said that, during his detention he was not informed why he was held in detention, but he was once taken out in order to give “some statement”.

“We went out in January 1996 with the help from the Red Cross. We were just released home, because Silos was disbanded,” Golub said.

The trial is due to continue on Wednesday, January 23.
