Prosecutor Ibro Bulic said that the circumstances have not changed since late May this year, when Radojkovic was first ordered into custody, adding that there was still a danger that the suspect might flee or influence witnesses or accomplices.
“I would like to point out that the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina is conducting the investigation hurriedly and that we shall make a prosecutorial decision on whether to file an indictment or not within the next two months,” Bulic said.
The Defence of Radojkovic requested the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina to decline the custody extension motion and order prohibiting measures against the suspect instead.
“Firstly, there is no grounded suspicion that he committed any crime. He was undoubtedly present in the field in Srebrenica, but he just performed a legal action, consisting of guarding of a road. Besides that, this man has nowhere to flee, so it would be inexplicable to order him into custody due to a potential flight,” said Nenad Grubez, Defence attorney of the suspect.
Radojkovic was extradited from the United States of America, USA on May 24 this year due to a suspicion that he committed crimes against Bosniak victims in his capacity as one of the commanders with the Jahorina Training Centre of the Special Police Brigade with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska, MUP of RS.
Radojkovic was arrested at the International Airport in Sarajevo on Thursday, May 24 on the basis of suspicion that he committed crimes against humanity in the Srebrenica area. After having been arrested, he was ordered into custody.
The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina is due to render a decision concerning the custody extension motion at a later stage.
