“The prosecution has removed from the third amended indictment those crimes for which it had proposed not to present evidence. These proposed reductions were approved by the Trial chamber on December 2. The Prosecution has also removed reference to a municipality for which no evidence will be presented,” states the motion of the Prosecution.
The submission points out that the Prosecution chose crimes that adequately reflect the criminal behavior of the accused and which will establish a basis of conviction on all 11 counts of the indictment.
The ICTY accepted a motion on December 2 by the Prosecution office to limit the presentation of evidence in respect to Mladic to 106 crimes, instead of 196, which were originally in the third amended indictment.
This decision also accepted the Prosecution’s motion to limit the number of municipalities to 15 instead of 23.
In that decision, the Prosecutor’s Office was given a deadline of two weeks to file an amended indictment and the revised list of victims.
Mladic, former Chief of Staff of the Army of Republika Srpska (VRS), is charged with genocide, crimes against humanity and the violations of the laws or customs of war in Bosnia and Herzegovina from 1992 to 1995.M.T.
