A guilt admission agreement concluded between the indictee and the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina proposes that Anic be sentenced to 15 years in prison.
“He admitted that he participated, as a member of the Maturice Special Purposes Squad with the Croatian Defence Council, HVO, in Kiseljak, in an infantry attack on Grahovci village, Kiseljak, the murder of Bosniak civilians in Han Ploce village and the murder of civilians in Stupni Do village in 1993,” the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina said in its announcement.
Under the deal, Anic has agreed to disclose everything he knows about the events that took place in Kiseljak and Kresevo area from 1992 and 1995 and, prior to the pronouncement of the verdict, express regrets for his participation in the murders.
The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina will consider the guilt admission agreement in the upcoming period.
Anic was living in Croatia before he surrendered to the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina on November 1, 2010.
Zdravko Mihaljevic, another former member of the Maturice squad, also recently reached a guilt admission agreement with the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He admitted that he participated in the murder of civilians in Tulice village, near Kiseljak. As part of the plea deal, reached in March this year, It was proposed that he be sentenced to between five and six years in prison.
Mihaljevic reached the deal in the run up to his second instance trial. He was acquitted in a first instance trial in April 2008, but the Appellate Chamber revoked the verdict and ordered a retrial.
