At the trial of the three indictees, who are charged with crimes in Omarska and Keraterm detention camps, the first witness of Dusko Knezevic’s Defence, who testified under the pseudonym of K054, was examined at a closed session.

“We accepted the proposal by Knezevic’s Defence to examine witness K054 with no presence of the public, due to the information that this witness may disclose,” Trial Chamber Chairman Saban Maksumic said.

Dusko Knezevic, Zeljko Mejakic and Momcilo Gruban are charged with having participated in the rape, murder, beating and detention of Bosniaks and Croats in Omarska and Keraterm detention camps in 1992.

Dusan Fustar is also charged with those crimes. In April 2008 he concluded a guilt admission agreement with the Prosecution of BiH. After that, the Court decided to split the case into two separate cases.

In 2006 Mejakic, Gruban, Fustar and Knezevic were transferred from The Hague Tribunal to Sarajevo for further processing before local judicial institutions. The trial commenced before the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina in late February 2007.

According to the official timetable of the State Court, the trial of Mejakic, Gruban and Knezevic is due to continue on Thursday, April 24, 2008.
