The state prosecution presented a few documents at the Petar Kovacevic trial, but didn’t explain their intention in filing them as material evidence. Kovacevic has been charged with war crimes in the Visegrad area.

Prosecutor Dzevad Muratbegovic presented a death registry entry by doctor Senadin Ljubovic. He also included medical records created by Ljubovic.

Defense attorney Petko Pavlovic objected to the relevance of this new evidence, claiming that it wasn’t foreseen under the indictment. He said the evidence didn’t disprove the claims made by the defense.

Muratbegovic said the documents didn’t disprove the defense’s evidence, but served as additional state prosecution evidence.

Kovacevic, a former member of the Bosnian Serb Army, has been charged with participating in murders, rape and the unlawful arrest of civilians in Visegrad in late May 1992.

Trial chamber chairman Davorin Jukic said the prosecution had revised the indictment on June 10, but the new indictment wasn’t read at the trial. The defense submitted a written response to the changes in the indictment.

The trial will continue on July 6, when witness Mersa Hadzisalihovic is expected to testify. She was supposed to testify at this hearing, but is currently on vacation
