Bosnia Convicts Serb Ex-Military Policeman of Srebrenica Shootings

The Bosnian state court on Wednesday convicted Momcilo Tesic, a wartime military policeman with the Bosnian Serb Army’s Vlasenica Brigade, of involvement in killing 17 men from Srebrenica area in the village of Mrsici in the Vlasenica municipality on July 13-14, 1995.
He was found guilty of committing a crime against humanity.
The indictment said that Tesic and other members of the Vlasenica Brigade manned a Bosnian Serb checkpoint in the village of Luke and stopped vehicles transporting Bosniaks there, stealing money and jewellery from them.
Some women were taken away and raped, while some men were tied up and detained them in the local primary school building, where they were abusedthe prosecution alleged.
Tesic, together with others, took some of the captured men to the village of Mrsici, where they were shot and their bodies robbed.
One man managed to flee by jumping off a truck, but Tesic ran after him. His remains were later found and identified.
This was a first-instance verdict and can be appealed.
