He was found guilty of killing Rasid Jasarevic and Mehmedalija Ahmetovic in collaboration with another, unknown soldier.

“During the trial, the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina presented sufficient evidence to enable the chamber to conclude that an attack against the civilian population happened at the relevant time and that all the injured parties were civilians. The defence did not deny that,” said presiding judge Darko Samardzic.

Samardzic said that eye-witnesses described the killing of the two victims, while one witness said he recognised the defendant once he had taken a stocking off his head.

As mitigating circumstances are concerned, the court took into account the fact that the defendant has a family, that he has not been convicted before, and that he was young when he committed the crime.

It also took into account the fact that Marinkovic helped the wounded son of one of the witnesses.

The verdict can be appealed.
