According to the charges, Izet Arifovic, also known as Ciza, killed a detained Serb civilian who had been brought to police premises in Srebrenica after an attack on the village of Zalazje on July 12, 1992. Seven other civilians and four dead bodies were also at the premises. Arifovic is also accused of having shot two civilians as they were being transported off the police premises on a truck filled with dead bodies.
“After their bodies were loaded onto a truck, suspect Smajlovic noticed that one of the victims was showing signs of life, so he opened fire, killing two of the captured civilians,” a state prosecution announcement reads.
The prosecution suspects Salihovic of having transported the remaining civilians in an unknown direction. The remains of some of the civilians were found after the war.
Branko Simic, Petko Simic, Miodrag Rakic, Miladin Tubic, Ivan Cvjetinovic, Nedeljko Gligic, Marko Jeremic, Ljubisa Gligoric and Dragomir Vujadinovic were among the Serb captives.
Arifovic is also suspected of having killed a civilian named Zivan Prodanovic who had his hands tied after giving up his gun in the village of Ratkovici on June 21, 1992.
“The suspect approached him, ordered him to stand up and killed him by shooting him with firearms,” a state prosecution announcement reads.
The indictment has been forwarded to the state court for confirmation.
Arifovic, Smajlovic and Salihovic were arrested on Monday, January 4. The prosecution proposed that the court order prohibitive measures against them.
