The Court on Tuesday found Icanovic not guilty of killing two prisoners of war and beating other captives with a rifle butt in the area of Latica Glavica near Velika Kladusa in late 1994.||Hasan Icanovic, the former commander of the 505th Knights Brigade of the Fifth Corps of the Bosnian Army, was charged with crimes against prisoners of war who were members of the National Defence force of the Western Bosnia Autonomous Region, a self-proclaimed Bosniak statelet which existed between 1993 and 1995.||Presiding judge Jasminka Karabegovic said the prosecution failed to provide proof that Icanovic committed the acts he was charged with.||“It is clear that battles between the Bosnian army fifth corps and the Defence force of the Western Bosnia Autonomous Region took place in December 1994 on Latica Glavica and that several members of the Defence force were detained, as witnesses described. It is, however, still unclear who shot and killed two of the prisoners,” the judge said.||The verdict can be appealed.
