Pijunovic, a former police officer, was found guilty of intimidating and beating civilians and confiscating their money.

The verdict confirms that Pijunovic beat Asir Kopic with a bat in a police station in Teslic, and beat Saban Mesinovic on Territorial Defense premises with a wooden rod.

Pijunovic is found guilty of intimidating Jozo Martinovic by firing a gun at his house and confiscating 40,000 German Marks in different currencies from Martinovic and his wife for the Bosnian Serb Army.

The verdict also confirms that Pijunovic beat Amir Ikotic, and forced detained civilians to beat one another in front of the police building in Teslic.

Pijunovic was acquitted of responsibility for taking away several civilians who were later killed.

“All the injured parties were civilians. Their statements were clear. The defense did not question them,” said trial chamber chair Hatidza Hodzic.

Pijunovic must pay court costs in an amount that will be determined later and a lump-sum of 200 convertible marks. Injured parties Jozo Martinovic and Saban Mesinovic were referred to civil litigation for obtaining compensation claims.

The verdict may be appealed before the Supreme Court of Republika Srpska.

Pijunovic’s trial began in late 2012.
