A Bosnian prosecution witness told the trial for crimes in Cajnice that a neighbor told him that the Jovanovic’s killed his mother.

Witness Nurija Makota said that neighbor Petar Pljevačić told him that “scum from Medosevici” killed his mothers on June 4, 1992 in Buckovici village near Cajnice.

“He sat she was in front of her house and while working in the field he saw six men with rifles who he recognized as Stevo, Mladen, Milosav, Marijan, Slavko and Goran Jovanovic.

His neighbor watched, the witness said, as the Jovanovic’s forced his mother inside.

“She was forced to sit, and then we heard rifles. He blocked his ears and when the six of them moved, he saw my mothers body. Then they set the house on fire”, said the witness and added that neighbors Rade Vasiljević and Milan Mašić also told him that the Jovanovic’s killed his mother.

Stevo, Milosav, Marijan and Slavko Jovanović are charged as former members of the Bosnian Serb Army of killing a woman in Buckovici on June 4, 1992. They are charged with other crimes in the Cajnice region as well.

Makota said he found his mothers remains in 2003 based on what his neighbor told him.

“We identified her by her locket, since the remains were charred. I found peace when we found her”, said Makota.

The witness will be cross examined on June 18.
