Papic Trial Postponed Due to Death in Family
The Veljko Papic trial has been postponed due to the death of Papic’s father.
Papic’s defense attorney, Veljko Civsa, told the cantonal court of Sarajevo that his client couldn’t attend the trial because his father had died the night before.
The Sarajevo cantonal prosecution has charged Papic, the former commander of a battalion with the First Sarajevska Brigade of the Bosnian Serb Army, with the inhumane treatment and intimidation of civilians in the Sarajevo area from 1992 to 1994. Papic allegedly forced civilians to perform hard labour and exposed them to life-threatening situations.
The trial will continue on August 18, when two witnesses who appeared in court today will appear again.
