Hearing of Grbic Trial Closed to Public

Today’s hearing of the Stojan Grbic trial was closed to the public as per a request by the district prosecution of Doboj. Grbic, a former member of the Civil Defense in Teslic, has been charged with rape.

BIRN was told by the Doboj district court that expert witnesses presented psychiatric and psychological findings on the defendant’s mental health at the hearing.

Grbic underwent a mental health examination as per a request by his defense team, in order to determine whether he was fit to stand trial.

The trial chamber will make a decision about Grbic’s ability to follow the trial proceedings at a later stage.

Stojan Grbic has been charged with the rape of a woman of non-Serb nationality. The rape allegedly occurred in his house in Teslic in the summer of 1992.
