Mile Puljic, the former commander of the Second Brigade of the Bosnian Croat Army has been charged with the illegal arrest and detention of Bosniaks in Mostar.

At this hearing, a protected witness known as S1 said her husband and his brother were abducted by two Croat soldiers.

“It was around 23:00 and two of them came. One said, ‘This is where you hide.’ Then they took my husband and his brother,” S1 said.

She claimed the soldiers who abducted her husband and his brother were Ante Zovko and Predrag Gagro.

S1 said Zovko disliked her husband since before the war.

S1 said she asked about her husband at the Second Brigade of the Bosnian Croat Army, but didn’t receive any information about his fate. His remains were discovered fifteen years later.

Puljic’s defense said S1 hadn’t mentioned meeting Ante Zovko in her three previous statements. S1 said she thought she had.

Testifying at the same hearing, a protected witness known as S2 said his father and uncle were abducted in May 1993.

“One of the soldiers had a moustache. His hat said ‘Herceg Bosna.’ The other had a strip on his head,” said S2, who was 11 at the time.

The trial continues on April 14.
