Zenica Cantonal Prosecution witness Dragomir Kostadinovic, who is 84, repeated during today’s hearing that he did not feel well. He said that he didn’t know what he was saying, and that he could not remember anything.
Kostadinovic was presented with a statement he had given to investigators regarding the case in March 2006. Although Kostadinovic confirmed that he had given the statement, he said that he “neither saw nor heard anything.” He also said “one cannot change past actions. What can I do now?”
Kostadinovic was expected to testify at the trial of Ranko and Zeljko Rakic, as well as Stanko Markovic, all former members of the Army of Republika Srpska.
According to the indictment, the Rakics and Markovic came to the Husanovic home in the village of Kucice in Zavidovici in the summer of 1992. There they beat a man, took his wife, daughter and granddaughter to a nearby hill, and set the house on fire, the indictment alleges. Gunfire was heard after their departure, and the wife’s body was found later on.
The trial will continue on March 10.
