Kameric’s defense gave up on examining its last witness, who was due to testify from Germany via video link.

Defense attorney Lejla Covic said that she had previously spoken to the witness and that he had agreed to testify.

“I spoke to him again. He said that there was some misunderstanding with the German authorities. The defense is giving up on the examination of this witness,” Covic said.

Judge and trial chamber chairman Saban Maksumic pointed out that the court had done its utmost in order to facilitate the examination of the witness via video link.

“Although he previously voluntarily agreed to testify, it turns out that he has changed his mind,” Maksumic said.

The decision to give up the examination of this witness marked the end of the presentation of evidence at this trial.

Kameric, a former member of the 101st Bosanskobrodska Brigade, was charged with having participated in the torture of Serb and Bosniak civilians and prisoners of war on police premises and at the “Polet” stadium in Bosanski Brod from April-October 1992.

The State Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina is scheduled to present its closing statement on February 19.
