Testifying before the Cantonal court in Travnik, Esed Sipic said that he was a member of the Yugoslav army in 1992, after which he joined the Territorial Defence units in Travnik.

Sipic said that Aleksa Kostres was his first neighbour and that they often went to work together since Kostres worked as a mechanic in the Yugoslav army barracks.

“I wasn’t in Travnik that day. I was in the Biljani region organising the Territorial Defence. My wife told me Aleksa was taken and I heard the same from his wife Sajma. I never saw him again,” said Sipic.

Former member of the Croatian Defence Council Bruno Saric is charged with taking Kostres from his building on May 24, 1992, after which Kostres was never again seen alive.

The trial continues on February 5.
