The court on Monday rejected appeals from both the defence and prosecution, upholding the verdict which saw former soldier Mladjenovic jailed for participating in an attack against the Bosniak civilian population in the Bratunac municipality in May 1992.

Mladjenovic was found to have showed a group of soldiers Bosniak houses that should be set on fire. After they torched the houses, he then personally searched one house and set it on fire too.

However he was acquitted of charges that he participated in murders and destruction of property during an attack on the villages of Hranca and Glogova in May 1992 and of having command responsibility for the violence.

Mladjenovic was ordered to pay court costs of 300 Bosnian marks (150 euro).

The appeals court meanwhile upheld the acquittal of another former soldier, Savo Zivkovic, who was on trial alongside Mladjenovic.
