The Trial Chamber of the Cantonal Court in Bihac said that it would set the trial beginning date, considering the fact that the guilt admission agreement had not been signed.
The Defefence of indictee Banjac then presented medical documentation and requested a psychiatric examination in order to determine whether she was capable of participating and following the trial. The Chamber accepted the proposal.
Kuburic and Banjac are charged with having tortured and treated a nurse with the Kljuc-Sana Company of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, ABiH, in an inhumane manner.
The nurse was captured by members of the Republika Srpska Army, VRS, in the Radici area, Bosanska Krupa municipality.
The captured nurse, who was wounded in her head and leg, was handed over to members of “the Women’s Front” with the Petrovac Brigade of VRS, to which the indictees belonged, while their chief Ranka Tomic is not available to judicial bodies.
“They took the injured party to a valley in the vicinity of the school building in Radic, where many local residents had gathered. After that Ranka Tomic ordered her to strip naked and crawl on the ground, which caused numerous abrasions on her body,” the indictment alleges.
It is further alleged that Tomic then ordered her to dig a grave for herself, putting tree branches between her legs. At that moment Kuburic and Banjac approached her and began hitting her with hazel tree sticks until they were broken.
“After that Radmila Banjac cut her hair off with a knife making a cross-like sign on her head and then carved a cross all over her back, which caused heavy bleeding. Bora Kuburic took the knife and cut the lower part of the injured party’s ear,” the indictment alleges.
It further alleges that the nurse was then ordered to go to another valley, where she was forced to dig a grave for herself again.
On that occasion they were accompanied by younger minor Veselko Dukic, who ordered the nurse to lie in the grave on her back and killed her by firing several bullets at her.
The indictees are defending themselves from liberty. The trial beginning date is due to be set following the expert’s examination.
