“Two of his left ribs were broken. That was all,” court expert Zeljko Karan said, adding that it was not possible to determine when those injuries were made.
According to the charges, Kahro Vejzovic, who was accompanied by two policemen, participated in the beating of Ladimir Dragic in an old local community office in Stupari, Kladanj municipality, at the beginning of June 1992. The indictment alleges that Dragic committed suicide in the evening hours on that same day.
Vejzovic is on trial, together with Safet Mujcinovic, Selman Busnov, Nusret Muhic, Zijad Hamzic, Ramiz Halilovic, Nedzad Hodzic and Osman Gogic, former members of the Territorial Defence, as well as the military and civil authorities.
Testifying for the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina, BiH, Enes Gegic, former Chief of Police in Lukavac, said that indictee Vejzovic worked as policeman in that town, except in the period from the end of May to August 1992.
“I heard that he was in Kladanj and Stupari as an active policeman,” he said.
Vejzovic is charged with having tortured Serb male civilians during their examination in the old local community office, elementary school building and police station in Stupari from May to August 1992.
Besides that, he is charged with having put a pistol in Radovan Djokic’s mouth on January 20, 1993, forced him to drink brandy and extinguished a cigarette on his tongue.
The witness said that his secretary and the Commander of police kept special records of shifts, days off and sick leave of policemen. Responding to Defence’s questions, he said that policemen worked more than the records showed.
He added that Vejzovic was given an apartment to use in Lukavac at the beginning of 1993.
The trial is due to continue on October 31.
