Indictee Wounded in his Heel

Testifying in defence of Dragan Sekaric, a witness confirms that the indictee was member of the Gorazde and Visegrad Brigade of the Republika Srpska Army, VRS.

Milos Neskovic, former Chief of the military section with the Ministry of Defence of Republika Srpska, RS, said that the indictee was a member of the Gorazde Brigade from May 4 to August 28, 1992 and Visegrad Brigade from September 23, 1992 to August 18, 1995.  
 
Neskovic read this piece of information and the confirmed it after the Defence had presented him with “a personal and unit records” for the indictee. Also, the witness confirmed that he had stamped those documents.   
      
Sekaric, former member of the Territorial Defence and “Osvetnik” paramilitary formation, is charged with having participated in an attack on Lozje village, known as Kokino Selo, Gorazde municipality, as well as murders, rape and physical abuse of non-Serb civilians in Visegrad. He is charged with having committed those crimes from April 1992 and during 1993.
 
The Prosecution then presented a document from October 1991, indicating that the indictee was assigned an automatic rifle, 150 bullets, five clips, and complete rifle accessories. The witness confirmed the allegations contained in the document.
 
The indictee’s cousin Velemir Sekaric, who appeared as the second witness at this hearing, said that, on June 25, 1992 he was wounded in Obarak village, which was between 500 and 800 meters away from Kokino Selo, Gorazde municipality, and that, after he had been wounded, Sekaric carried him. He said that Sekaric too was wounded on that occasion.  
 
“A bullet hit Dragan on his heel. They managed to carry us to the territory controlled by Serbs, to that part of Obarak, to the dispensary and then to the military hospital in Sokolac. I stayed at the hospital for nearly a month. I was discharged on July 21. I went to Kraljevo, Serbia. Dragan and I were at the hospital together, but he stayed there after my discharge,” the witness said.  
 
Witness Velemir Sekaric mentioned that the indictee was a member of the reserve police forces in 1991 and that he thought that he wore a reserve police forces uniform.  
 
Branka Sekaric, the indictee’s wife, was examined as third Defence witness at this hearing in absence of public.
 
The trial is due to continue on October 27.
