“They are victims of rape, which is not charged upon the indictees in this case. Considering the fact that they have little knowledge about this case and that witness S1 has not eaten for five days and that S2 does not sleep, the Prosecution gives up the examination of these witnesses,” said State Prosecutor Cazim Hasanspahic.

The Prosecutor apologised for not having informed the Court of BiH about it earlier, pointing out that he did not examine those witnesses during the investigation, so he needed some time in order to familiarise himself with the case.

He said that he intended to give up the examination a few more witnesses, who were granted protection measures in some other cases.

Marinko and Zoran Bjelica, as well as Novica Tripkovic, former members of the Republika Srpska Army, VRS, are charged with having participated in the murder and torture of Bosniak civilians, who were detained in the “Miladin Radojevic” school building in Kalinovik in August 1992.

The trial is due to continue on September 10.
