Nisevic and Beric told the district court in the town of Banja Luka on Monday that they did not take part in the murder of two Bosniak civilians in July 1992 in the village of Trnopolje near Prijedor.

The two men are accused of arriving in Trnopolje with other Serb troops and taking a group of Bosniaks from their homes to a nearby railway line, where they and the other unknown soldiers killed the two civilians, whose bodies have still not been found.

Nisevic is currently living in Belgrade, Serbia, while Beric, who told the court that he was a disabled veteran and had been injured twice during the war, lives in Prijedor. Neither man has been remanded in custody.

As both denied the charges against them, their trial will start within two months.
