Kovacevic Sentenced to 18 Months in Prison
The cantonal court in Bihac sentenced ex-Bosnian Army soldier Safet Kovacevic to 18 months in prison for abusing Bosnian Serb prisoners of war in March 1995, while four of his comrades, Husein Begic, Muhamed Anadolac, Abid Ljubijankic and Sabahudin Hafuric, were acquitted.

Kovacevic was found guilty of punching and kicking the prisoners of war and beating them with batons, together with other Bosnian army military policeman, and forcing them to sing Bosnian nationalist songs while they were being driven from Bihac and Cazin to Izacic.
Presiding judge Fikret Hodzic said that the other defendants were cleared of all charges due to insufficient evidence against them.
This verdict can be appealed at the Bosnian Federation’s supreme court.
