A total of 11 bodies, including nine complete skeletal remains, have been exhumed from a grave revealed by the floods in Usora village, Doboj municipality – Lejla Cengic, Spokesperson of the Institute for the Missing Persons of BiH, confirms to BIRN Justice Report.

As said by Cengic, all victims had their hands tied with wire on their backs. She said that, on the basis of the external examination, it was determined that they were shot on their napes.

“It is assumed that they were residents of Jablanica, Maglaj municipality. The victims are Bosniaks, who were killed on the steel bridge in the vicinity of Usora in the summer of 1992,” Cengic said, adding that a total of 16 men aged between 19 and 57 were killed on that occasion.

Four victims of this crime were found in the past years. One of them was found in the Sremska Mitrovica area, Serbia, while three were found in the Doboj area.

“The search for one more victim therefore continues. The search of the area by machines and manually will continue,” Cengic said.

DNA samples will be taken from the remains in order to determine the identity of these victims.

The Institute confirmed that the exhumation of at least three bodies, which were supposedly killed in that area in 1995, was conducted at Kamenicko Brdo locality, Bratunac municipality, today. The remains were transferred to the Commemorative Centre in Tuzla for further analysis.

The State Prosecution led the exhumation as per an order issued by the Court of BiH.
