Accepting an appeal filed by the Federal Prosecution, the third instance Chamber of the Supreme Court increased the sentence against Milanovic by four months.

“The third instance Chamber of the Supreme Court of FBiH pronounce a verdict, rejecting the appeals filed by indictee Mladen Milanovic and his Defence attorney as unfounded and partially accepting the Federal Prosecutor’s appeal,” the Supreme Court of FBiH announced.

Milanovic, former guard, was found guilty of having beaten prisoner Taib Kodzaga up, hitting him with his legs and hands, in June or July 1992 and enabled unauthorised persons to enter the detention camp and abuse detainees.

In November 2008 the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo acquitted Milanovic of all charges.

The verdict was appealed with the Supreme Court of FBiH, which sentenced him to one year in prison on February 15, 2013.

The Supreme Court’s verdict was appealed, so the third instance Chamber of the Supreme Court pronounced the final verdict, under which he was sentenced to one year and four months in prison.

Milanovic was sentenced according to the Criminal Code of the Federative Republic of Yugoslavia. The time he spent under custody, from the end of July 2007 to November 10, 2008, will be calculated towards his sentence.
