Sidret Horman, former member of military police of the 9th Mountain Brigade with the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, ABiH, said that he guarded a group of ten prisoners at Stupnik in 1993, when Serb soldiers attacked them.
“We came across an ambush set by the Serb Army. A colleague of mine was killed. Some prisoners fled to the Serb side. I came back later on and noticed that two prisoners got killed,” the witness said, adding that he noticed that the two dead prisoners had guns.
Testifying at this hearing, former military policeman Vahidin Mehmedic said that he was with Sidret Horman at Stupnik, when they were attacked by the Serb Army. He said that a few prisoners and his colleague policeman got killed on that occasion.
“We found the prisoners in trenches. They were lying dead with guns. Some prisoners fled to the Serbian side,” Mehmedic said.
According to Mehmedic and Horman, the military policemen were tasked with guarding prisoners, while they performed labour. They said that the policemen treated the prisoners in a correct manner.
The Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina charges crimes committed in “Silos” detention camp, “Krupa” military barracks and “9. maj” school building upon Mustafa Djelilovic, Fadil Covic, Mirsad Sabic, Nezir Kazic, Becir Hujic, Halid Covic, Serif Mesanovic and Nermin Kalember.
The indictment alleges that Hujic was Manager, as well as Deputy Manager of “Silos” detention camp, just like Halid Covic. Kalember was a guard in “Silos”, Kazic was Commander of the 9th Mountain Brigade of ABiH, while the others were members of civil, military and police authorities.
Third witness Sulejman Golubic, who too was member of military police, told the Court that, during the war he escorted prisoners from “Silos” and “Krupa” barracks to other locations, where they performed labour, several times.
“Groups of between five and ten prisoners would perform works. Those people were Serbs, who were detained in 1992, because they had weapons. They were aged between 30 and 40 and physically capable of performing labour,” the witness said.
He said that, while prisoners were performing works in Zagon village, a grenade fell and wounded two of them.
The trial is due to continue on November 28.
