The Defence announced that the examination had not been performed yet, because court expert Zorica Lazarevic asked to be paid prior to the examination, but indictee Kornjaca did not have the money to pay for it. For this reason the Defence previously informed the Court that it gave up the expert examination.

“My income is small, so I cannot pay for that,” indictee Kornjaca said.

The Trial Chamber said that the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina would approach the court expert directly and pay the examination costs.

The examination of the indictee was originally due to be performed by court expert Ratko Kovacevic. After he had informed the Court that he was not able to do it, Defence attorney Milana Borovcanin-Bulic proposed that the examination be conducted by Zorica Lazarevic.

Kornjaca is charged with having participated in the murder of 28 civilians, who were detained in the hunters’ house at Mostina, in May 1992 after a member of “Plavi orlovi” (“Blue Eagles”) paramilitary unit was killed.

The former Commander of “Plavi orlovi” paramilitary unit is on trial for having persecuted Bosniaks from the Cajnice area.

At this hearing the Defence presented the Trial Chamber with a list of material evidence, which it wanted to include in the case file. Defence attorney Borovcanin-Bulic did not explain the mentioned pieces of evidence individually.

The trial is due to continue on November 20.
