Former army unit commander Milun Kornjaca was sentenced to seven years in prison for ordering the illegal capture and detention of Bosniak civilians in the Cajnice area in 1992.
Presenting its closing statement before the Bosnian state court appeals chamber, Milun Kornjacas defense attorney said it hadnt been proven that the defendant had effective control over the Plavi Orlovi (Blue Eagles) paramilitary formation in Cajnice.
The state prosecution has requested that Milun Kornjaca, the former Bosnian Serb Army commander of the Plavi Orlovi Unit, be convicted of command responsibility for war crimes committed in Cajnice in 1992.

The Bosnian state court appeals chamber confirmed the convicting part of the verdict against Milun Kornjaca for crimes in Cajnice, but ordered a retrial in regard to the counts charging him with murders in Mostina, for which he was originally acquitted.
Presenting their appeals before the Appellate Chamber of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, BiH, the Prosecution of BiH requests a longer sentence against Milun Kornjaca and a retrial for the acquitting part of the verdict, while the Defence calls on the Court to acquit the indictee.
After a trial of more than three years, the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina will announce its verdict against Milun Kornjaca on May 21. As a commander of the Blue Eagles unit, Kornjaca is charged for crimes committed in Cajnice in 1992.
