The witness, Rade Danilovic, in late 1993 became the commander of the Third Light Infantry Podrinje Brigade of the Army of Republika Srpska, of which Kornjaca’s Seventh Company was part.

“You were disciplined and you carried out orders courageously,” Danilovic said in response to the defendant’s questions.

The witness said that Kornjaca was promoted to the rank of officer because he led the Seventh Company well.

Danilovic, who came from Serbia as a Yugoslav People’s Army officer in 1993 on the invitation of the Republika Srpska leadership, said he had no problems with Kornjaca.

“I did not recall him carrying out any order the way he pleased or, God forbid, doing something stupid,” the witness said.

Kornjaca, former commander of the paramilitary unit known as the Blue Eagles, is on trial for crimes committed in Cajnice in 1992. He is indicted for expulsion and murder of Bosniaks.

Danilovic is the last witness for the defence.

The Trial Chamber accepted the defence’s proposal that the defendant be examined by an expert neuro-psychiatrist who will prepare a report in several weeks, after which the trial will resume.
