Sukrija, who was a policeman at the time, said that his neighbour Rajko Dabic, the injured party’s landlord at the time, reported to him that Asim Kadic, known as Kadija, took his subtenant away.
“I was the duty officer. Rajko came and said that Kadija took his subtenant away, because she had been sending signals to somebody. He asked me to go look for her. I could not leave my area, so I took him to the main office of the Internal Affairs Service, where he gave a statement. I neither saw the woman nor the indictee on that day. Later on Rajko told people that she came back and that she had been raped,” Sukrija said.
The indictment charges Kadic, former member of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with having raped a female person. According to the charges, he separated the individual from a group of people in front of a house and took her to a nearby hill, telling her that she had to come with him “in order to be examined” and that he “would bring her back right away.”
The injured party is due to testify as a vulnerable witness in absence of the indictee at the next hearing scheduled for September 16.
