Deceased Witnesses Statements about Bukvik

Prosecutor Ratka Djonlaga read statements given by witnesses Rados Grbovic, Vaso Peric, Spasoje Peric and Petar Djukic, who have since died, and Borislav Vujicic, who lives in Australia.
In their statements the witnesses mentioned that, following the fall of Bukvik, Brcko municipality on September 15, 1992 and during their detention they saw persons whose last names were Hadzic and Hodzic and that those persons examined and mistreated them.
Defence attorneys Osman Mulahalilovic and Muhamed Lisic objected to the statements, saying that most of them did not specifically mention the indictees, but persons with certain nicknames and last names, which, according to them, had led to the mixing up of identities.
The indictment alleges that Hadzic and Hodzic participated in the torture and inhumane treatment of Serb civilians and prisoners of war from the Bukvik area in 1992 and 1993.
The Prosecution alleges that Hadzic was Crime Police Inspector with the Public Safety Station in Brcko, while Hodzic was a military policeman with the Croatian Defence Council, HVO, who also worked as a security guard at detention camps and collection centres at the time.
By presenting additional material evidence at the next hearing, the Brcko District Prosecution will complete the presentation of its evidence. The presentation of Defences evidence will begin after that.
The trial is due to continue on July 16.
