Djelilbasic et al: Plea bargain discussed

The plea bargain that the defendants made with the Prosecution proposes their prison sentence be between five and six years of prison.
At the session discussing the plea bargain, the Djelilbasic brothers repeated that they were guilty of the murder of two civilians of Serb ethnicity in Turbe (municipality of Travnik).
Prosecutor Slavica Terzic said she talked with the wives of the murdered people adding that they did not oppose the bargain.
The discussion of the plea bargain scheduled for May 25 this year was delayed because the Prosecution did not get consent for the plea bargain from families of the plaintiffs.
“The plaintiffs do not oppose the bargain. Earlier they did not understand what it entails. They still seek criminal prosecution, insist on civil action. They know about the proposed sentence. For plaintiffs the sentence is always small, but they cannot get their husbands back with the greater sentence either. They think that the proposed sentence is too low,” said Terzic.
According to the indictment, the Djelilbasic brothers, former members of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, after learning that their brother was killed on December 9, 1992, during the armed conflict between Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Army of Republika Srpska (VRS), killed Nedeljko Kosca and Bozo Katana with an automatic rifle.
Prosecutor Terzic at this session handed over evidence to the Trial Chamber, among them death certificates for Nedeljko Kosca, Bozo Katana and Suljo Djelibasic.
The defendants are free pending verdict.
