Prosecutor Ibro Bulic informed the Trial Chamber that the negotiations might change the course of the trial. He did not specify in what stage the process was.
Trial Chamber Chairwoman Jasmina Kosovic said that it was not advisable to inform the Chamber about it, considering the fact that the agreement had still not been concluded, adding that the trial would continue as previously planned.
Kosovic postponed the presentation of Defences material evidence until the next hearing, because Defence attorney Izet Bazdarevic had failed to numerate the list of documents.
Prosecutor Bulic said that, following the presentation of Defencea material evidence, he would like to examine an additional protected witness, adding that he found out about this witness after the indictment had been filed.
Kuvelja, former member of the Jahorina Training Centre with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska, MUP of RS, is charged with having participated in the shooting of more than 1,000 men inside and in front of the Agricultural Co-operative in Kravica, near Bratunac in July 1995.
The indictment alleges that, in the evening on July 13, 1995 Kuvelja participated, along with other members of the Training Centre, in the shooting of Bosniak men and verified each of the prisoners, who were still alive, by shooting them from an automatic gun.
In addition, the Prosecution charges him with having participated in the shooting of about 100 Bosniak men in front of the warehouse in Kravica. Those men were allegedly cheated by being invited to come out in order to receive medical assistance.
He is charged with having participated in the search of villages in the broader area of Potocari on July 12 with the aim of bringing all Bosniaks to Potocari, and the separation of men and taking them to the white house, where they were detained and mistreated.
During a status conference held prior to the beginning of Kuveljas trial in May last year, the Prosecutor mentioned that negotiations were conducted with the indictee. The Trial began because no guilt admission agreement had been concluded.
The trial is due to continue on May 15 this year.
