Local Justice – Sarajevo: Dusko Djajic Pleads not Guilty

The Sarajevo Cantonal Prosecution charges Djajic, former crime inspector with the Public Safety Station of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska, MUP of RS in Ilidza, with having intimidated, unlawfully taken away and abused civilians, treated them in an inhumane manner and pillaged their property. According to the charges, on November 1, 1995 Djajic ordered armed policemen to bring S.K. to the Police Station in order to conduct an informative interview with him. He then told S.K. that he had to leave his apartment and RS, considering the fact that he was a Croat and he could be eliminated.“When S.K. refused to leave his apartment, Djajic cursed him and hit him on his face with his fist. After having been hit, injured party S.K. fell from the chair, while other policemen kept hitting him on his body with their legs and fists,” the indictment alleges.It further alleges that, following the beating, Djajic drove the injured party to a check-point controlled by the RS Army in Kobiljaca and handed him over to a soldier, who then took him to a byway and told him not to step out of it, as the area was mined.According to the charges, Djajic moved into S.K.’s apartment on November 2, 1995 and lived in it until March 1996. It is alleged that, while leaving the apartment, Djajic loaded the movable property worth around KM 317,000 and drove it in unknown direction.Considering the fact that he pleaded not guilty, his trial will begin within the next 30 or 60 days. The Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina arrested Djajic in late December last year. He has been held in custody since. He was arrested on the basis of a warrant issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton.A.S.
