Local Justice – Stevanovic: Hearing Closed to Public

The trial of Ranko Stevanovic, who is charged with war crimes against the civilian population in Foca municipality, before the District Court in Trebinje begins with examination of two Prosecution witnesses at a closed hearing.

Two witnesses, victims of alleged rape, which is charged upon indictee Stevanovic, appeared before the Trial Chamber of the District Court in Trebinje. The District Prosecution also examined one of them about the murder charged upon the indictee.

The hearing at which the two Trebinje District Prosecution witnesses testified was closed to the public due to the protection of their identity.

Stevanovic is charged with committing two rapes and the three murders of civilians in Foca municipality.

The Defence announced that it would present its evidence once the District Prosecution had completed the examination of its witnesses.

During the first hearing indictee Stevanovic pleaded not guilty.

The next hearing is due to be held on February 15, when the Prosecution will examine two more witnesses and two expert witnesses. N.K.
