Bajro Kundak told the District Court in Eastern Sarajevo that, in June 1992 he was blindfolded and beaten up in the school building in Sokolac, adding that a cousin told him later on that indictee Markovic hit him. The witness said that he could not see the person, who was beating him, because he was blindfolded.

“They took my cousin Sabrija Kundak out first. Then they told me to come out. When I came to the door, they blindfolded me and took me out. Somebody asked me if I would fight with him. He them beat me up. He hit me twice with his leg and hand. My cousin told me that Milan Markovic, whom he knew, was the man, who was hitting me,” Kundak said.

According to the charges, Milan Markovic, former member of “7536 Military Post in Han-Pijesak” with the Republika Srpska Army, VRS, beat up and physically abused civilians, who were detained in the Sokolac municipality area, from June 1992 to March 1993.

The indictment alleges that, in late June 1992 Markovic beat Bajro Kundak up in “Slavisa Vajner Cica” school building in Sokolac.

In his statement given to the State Investigation and Protection Agency, SIPA in 2007, Bajro Kundak said that he had known Markovic from before and that the bandage fell down from his eyes while he was beaten up, so he could see that Markovic was the person who was hitting him.

However, at this hearing the witness said that his cousin told him that he was beaten by Markovic, adding that he had not known Markovic from before.

“My cousin said that I was hit by Markovic. He hit me twice. The bandage did not fall down from my eyes,” Kundak said.

The trial is due to continue on December 7, 2011.
