The guilt admission agreement was submitted, along with the indictment against Cirkovic, to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for confirmation. The Prosecution agreed for Cirkovic to be sentenced to five years in prison. The State court confirmed the indictment on September 16 of this year.

“This sentence has been proposed on the basis of the indictee’s cooperation with the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the fact that he did not voluntarily join the Special Police Brigade (…), as well as the fact he committed the murder as per an order issued by a superior officer,” the State Prosecution said in its announcement.

In line with the agreement, Cirkovic gave a statement expressing his regrets for his participation in the crime.

In addition to Cirkovic, both Vaso Todorovic, a former member of the Second Special Police Squad and Marko Boskic, a former member of the 10th Reconnaissance Squad with the Republika Srpska Army, VRS, admitted their guilt before the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for participation in crimes against humanity committed in Srebrenica. Vaso Todorovic was sentenced to six years in prison, while Marko Boskic was sentenced to ten years’ imprisonment.

Vlastimir Golijan, a former member of the VRS who pleaded guilty at the beginning of September to genocide committed in Srebrenica, is awaiting the pronouncement of his sentence.
