Bosnian Croat ex-fighter Azra Basic’s appeal was rejected and she was jailed for 14 years for taking part in the killings, torture and inhumane treatment of Serb civilians and prisoners of war in 1992. The appeals chamber of the Bosnian state court on Thursday upheld the conviction of Azra Basic, a former member of the wartime Bosnian Croat force, the Croatian Defence Council, and jailed her for 14 years.

7. April 2017.
A former prisoner told the trial of former Croatian Defence Council fighter Azra Basic that he was assaulted and ridden like a horse by a female guard while in custody in 1992. Prosecution witness Stanimir Pijetlovic told the state court in Sarajevo on Friday that he was detained on April 26, 1992 by Croatian Defence Council fighters and held in the Army House in Derventa, where he and other prisoners were abused.

A former prisoner told the trial of Croatian Defence Council ex-fighter Azra Basic that a woman assaulted and humiliated him while he was in captivity in Derventa in 1992. Prosecution witness Cedo Prodic told the state court in Sarajevo on Friday that he and other prisoners were beaten up by a woman called Azra while they were being held at a military building in Derventa in April 1992.

Former Croatian Defence Council member Azra Basic was indicted for the alleged murder and torture of Serb prisoners in Derventa in northern Bosnia in 1992. The state prosecution on Friday charged Azra Basic with stabbing one Serb civilian to death with a knife and torturing and abusing other prisoners on several occasions, causing them serious physical and mental injuries.
