Military expert Reynaud Theunens testified at Stanisic and Simatovic’s trial at the Mechanism for International Criminal Tribunals in The Hague on Wednesday that Serbian State Security Service (SDB) units were involved in crimes during the Croatian war in 1991. Theunens quoted field reports by Yugoslav People’s Army intelligence bodies about crimes committed by members of the Serbian Volunteer Guard led by Zeljko Raznatovic, alias Arkan, and by other Serbian volunteer and paramilitary units, which according to the witness’s findings, were under the control of defendants Stanisic and Simatovic.

A witness told the trial of former Serbian security chiefs Jovica Stanisic and Franko Simatovic that Serb paramilitary forces led by the notorious Arkan murdered Bosniaks in Zvornik in April 1992. A protected prosecution witness codenamed RFJ-019 testified at the trial of Jovica Stanisic and Franko Simatovic at the Mechanism for International Criminal Tribunals in The Hague on Thursday that she was told that Zeljko Raznatovic, alias Arkan, led the fighters who killed Bosniak civilians in Zvornik in April 1992.
