Former fighter Hasib Cehic was sentenced to four years in prison for committing crimes against captured Bosnian Army soldiers in the Cazin and Velika Kladusa areas during wartime.
Closing statements were presented at today’s hearing of the Hasib Cehic trial. The cantonal prosecution of Bihac has called for a guilty verdict, while the defense has requested an acquittal. Cehic, a former member of the National Defense of the Western Bosnia Autonomous Region, has been charged with war crimes in the Cazin and Velika Kladusa area.
Ex-fighter Zlatko Husidic was sentenced to two years in prison for physically and mentally abusing three captured members of the Bosnian Army’s Fifth Corps in Velika Kladusa in March 1995.
On Thursday, February 18, the cantonal court of Bihac is scheduled to hand down its verdict against Zlatko Husidic. Husidic, a former member of the National Defense of the Western Bosnia Autonomous Region (NDWBAR), has been charged with crimes committed in Velika Kladusa in 1995.
Witnesses testifying at a trial dealing with war crimes committed in Velika Kladusa said they knew defendant Zlatko Husidic but hadn’t heard that he had beaten anyone.
Following the signing of a guilty-plea agreement, the Cantonal Court in Bihac sentenced Safet Kovacevic to one year in prison for mistreating prisoners of war in 1995.
Prosecution witnesses testifying at the Milenko Krsmanovic trial said injured party Muhidin Kapo and 20 other civilians fled the Rogatica area through Mount Romanija in July 1992. The civilians intended to reach Olovo.
The first prosecution witness testified at the trial of Zlatko Husidic, who’s been charged with war crimes in Velika Kladusa. The witness said Husidic beat him in 1995.
